PayPal Payment With a Credit Card

PayPal offers a convenient method for making payments without providing your credit card number to a vendor. Many online sellers prefer to receive payments through PayPal because it is fast and easy. You can simply click a "Buy" button, verify the information, and complete the purchase. The money can come from your credit card, and the vendor will get his payment instantly. You can set up a PayPal account and link it to a credit card with a few easy steps.

Step

Open a PayPal account if you do not already have one. This can be done via the PayPal website, where you will have to provide your name, address, telephone number and email address. You will also set a password and choose security questions that can be used in case you lose it. You have to agree to the terms of use and click an activation link that will be sent to your email account. Once you have activated your account, you will be able to sign in using your email address and password.

Step

In the Financial Information section, add at least one credit card. You can make payments through PayPal with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card, and you can add multiple cards to your account. Add the cards you will use most frequently to make payments via PayPal.

Step

When purchasing an item that allows you to pay via PayPal, choose the credit card you wish to use for payment when you get to the "Review The Payment" page. At that point, you can choose from the list of credit cards that you previously added to your PayPal account. The one that you select will be used for the payment when you okay the transaction.

Step

Check the confirmation email that PayPal will send to you to make sure that all details of the transaction are correct. If you see a problem, cancel the payment immediately so you can correct it.

Step

Check your next credit card statement to make sure that the payment was made on the correct card and that it is for the correct amount. If there is a problem, you can file a dispute with your credit card issuer or with PayPal's Resolution Center. Disputes through PayPal can only be filed up to 45 days after the purchase, while you should have 60 days or longer to file a dispute through your credit card issuer.
